Petra was founded as a multi-disciplined team of professionals formed within St. Joseph Health in the late 1990s to respond to the California Senate Bill 1953 seismic compliance regulations. Requiring a holistic and culturally mindful approach to effectively manage the overwhelming facility capital implications driven by the State mandate, the Petra team has evolved over the last decade to provide end-to-end facility concept, planning, development, and project management services.
Our services include primary design and construction management capabilities, as well as supplemental services, for pre-design and facility master planning, interior design and space planning, medical equipment planning, IT services, energy and engineering management, project estimating, strategic capital planning and cost management.
In 2012, Petra joined the newly-formed Innovation Institute, becoming an independent, for-profit business in service to the wider healthcare community.
